Good Ole Campbell's Soup- In Canada

On our annual trek to Calgary, Alberta to visit my husbands family, my husband and I made our way to Calgary's bustling Kensington market last week for a day of shopping. We happened upon a small coffee shop, The House Coffee Sanctuary, tucked away, among snowboard shops and consignment stores on Kensington's main drag.
As the temperature this time of year was unseasonably cool (a welcomed fact compared to the rumored 100 degree scorcher back home in Boston), I had a hankering for a tasty bowl. Late August in Calgary remains to be a steady soup season for consumers. An unassuming little place, I immediately noticed on their daily special board they served a "soup of the day" . The smiling young lad behind the counter informed me that today's bowl was a tomato and roasted red pepper bisque. The steaming bowl arrived moments later and as my husband waited for his grilled Panini, I rudely started slurping down this delectable bowl taking in the infused flavor of roasted red pepper.
The tomato and the peppers almost tasted fire roasted. The soup was filling and had enough kick to please any palette. It was easily a meal in itself. As I spooned down the last drop of goodness my husband's Panini arrived. I sat content while he ate. When I asked the young gentleman if the soup was made on the premise, he informed me that is was not but he would be happy to run down stairs and find out it's origin. Imagine my surprise when he told me it was "good ole" Campbell's Soup! It was in fact Campbell' s , Verve (trademarked) premium soup, a Food Service Brand that touts, "Eating Well All Year Round!"
I would have to agree.
